On Thursday 27th November 2014, just before the Trust Family Day, Abbey Meads Primary School had some special visitors.
Current Striker Jonathan Obika and Wes Foderingham were joined by Club Legend John Trollope to talk about Swindon Town.
This was the first of many planned school visits by Swindon Town players of past and present, and it was a special occasion as Abbey Meads Primary School were presented with their TrustSTFC “School Partnership” certificate.
John was awarded with his ‘Honorary Life Membership’ of TrustSTFC, in recognition of his outstanding service to the club.
A Swindon Town legend, he holds the record for the number of league appearances made for one club – turning out for the Town in 770 games between 1960 and 1980, an achievement which saw him receive the MBE.
John was also Manager of the club between 1980 and 1982.
Trust Chairman Steve Mytton was there to meet John, with a photo of the last time they had met, over 35 years ago!
It was a special day with newspaper photographers taking photographs and we had Will Walder from BBC Wiltshire Radio helping the kids to ask questions.
Everyone had a great time, this is how the children remember the day:
